Early-Morning Shooting Rocks Surrey’s Newton Area

Surrey Police Service (SPS) are investigating a shooting that occurred just before 1 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 19, in the Newton neighbourhood. Reports came in of shots fired near the intersection of King George Boulevard and 81 Avenue, prompting a swift response from local law enforcement.

Incident Details and Damage

Upon arrival, officers discovered a business showing signs of gunfire damage. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect opened fire at occupants of a vehicle parked in front of the establishment. Following the exchange, both the suspect and the victims fled the scene in separate vehicles, according to an SPS news release.

Investigation Underway

Members of SPS’s Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) are leading the probe. While authorities continue to determine the motive, police emphasized that there are no confirmed connections to ongoing extortion-related investigations or previous shootings in Surrey.

Description of Suspect Vehicle

Police are seeking information on a white, newer model, four-door sedan believed to be involved in the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.
