A sold-out country music fundraiser in Surrey raises $110K to support growing school snack programs and brings the community together in a big way.

A Hot Night of Music and Big Heart

The Barn in Guildford lit up with cheers, guitars, and nonstop excitement as the new Barn Burner: Country Music for a Cause event took over the stage. And because the community showed up with huge energy, the night turned into a massive success.

People kept filling the room, and the fire fighters from Surrey and Langley kept welcoming them with wide smiles. The two charities teamed up for the first time, and the crowd pushed the momentum higher and higher. Therefore, the night grew fast, the support grew fast, and the total grew even faster.

A Sell-Out Before Anyone Even Announced It

Dylan Van Rooyen of the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society looked thrilled all evening. He said the team hoped for a good turnout, but the response shocked them in the best way possible. Because they tested the idea with a soft launch, they reached out quietly first. And then, partners jumped in again and again.

Seats filled instantly, and then the list filled again, and then the wait-list appeared because the community refused to miss out. And so, 157 people locked in their spot long before the public even heard about it.

A Night That Turned Into $110,000 of Hope

The music jumped, the crowd cheered, and the total climbed. So, by the end of the night, the Barn Burner pulled in a huge $110,000. And because of that, firefighters felt even more fired up about the work ahead.

Dylan said the night proved something powerful. When people come together with one goal, the impact grows and grows. Because everyone believed in the cause, the night soared past every expectation.

Why the Need Keeps Growing

The charities created the event because the demand for school snack programs keeps rising. And since more kids ask for help every year, the groups knew they had to act fast. Surrey’s program alone almost doubled in cost in just four years, climbing from $200,000 to $400,000. Because of that jump, both groups needed new support, new funding, and new ideas.

So, Barn Burner became the next step. And because the community embraced it, the charities now feel excited about a bigger future.

More Events Are Already on the Horizon

With such a strong start, the team already imagines a larger venue. And since the first night created so much buzz, Dylan said they want more events, more seats, and more people joining the mission. Therefore, the Barn Burner will return, and it will grow.

Community Power Lights the Way

The night thrived because of many supporters, including Odyssey International, Sherry Saran Real Estate Group, Wubs Family Foundation, Odlum Brown Limited/Shelly Appleton-Benko, Value Property Group, Clover Towing, B&B Contracting Group, and the Township of Langley Fire Fighters Charitable Society.

Because these partners stepped forward, and because the crowd showed up with strong spirit, hundreds of local kids will feel the impact. And so, the Barn Burner became more than a show. It became a wave of hope, a spark of generosity, and a reminder that when a community stands together, amazing things happen.
