The beloved Dogs of White Rock calendar is back for 2026, raising funds for the BCSPCA while honoring a local senior’s inspiring legacy.
A Tail-Wagging Tradition Lives On
The beloved Dogs of White Rock calendar is coming back, and tails are already wagging. Beginning Nov. 28, dog lovers can grab the 2026 edition each page filled with furry faces and joyful moments. The project began with one man’s passion, and now, it continues as a heartfelt community tribute.
How One Man’s Love for Dogs Started It All
During the quiet days of the COVID-19 lockdown, 97-year-old Harold Zelt rode his scooter around White Rock and photographed dogs he met along the way. His simple idea grew into a local sensation. After his passing in April 2024, his sons Mike and Barry took the leash and kept the annual tradition alive in his honor.
Meanwhile, every photo shoot brings neighbors and their four-legged friends together. And wonderfully, each new calendar continues telling Harold’s story without saying a single word.
A Calendar With Purpose
The calendar isn’t just cute it’s meaningful. Over the years, it has raised more than $8,000 for the BCSPCA, helping with education programs and adoption efforts in Surrey.
Furthermore, the 2026 edition features dogs of all sizes, shapes, and personalities. Bubba, a 200-pound St. Bernard, confidently posed at White Rock Seniors Village during a sunny summer shoot truly ready for his close-up.
Community Support Grows
Even though expectations grow each year, excitement grows even faster. According to Si Cussen, retired general manager of White Rock Seniors Village, this year might be the best yet. Additionally, the photoshoots have become joyful community events, bringing laughter, wagging tails, and shared memories.
