Surrey Schools families are invited to mark their calendars for an event designed to make finding community support easier than ever. On Thursday, Dec. 4, the district’s Student Support department will host its first-ever Community Connections Fair, a large-scale gathering that brings dozens of organizations directly to students, parents, and staff.

The event takes place from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Resource Education Centre (14123 92nd Ave.), offering families a rare opportunity to meet face-to-face with community partners providing vital services across Surrey and White Rock.

District Principal Kristen Pawar says the goal is simple:
“For families in our school communities, they can come to one spot and learn about and connect with the many organizations we work with that can assist and support them.”

What Families Can Expect

The Community Connections Fair will feature organizations specializing in:

  • Indigenous supports and cultural services
  • Child development and early learning
  • Mental health and counselling
  • Healthcare, wellness, and family services
  • Youth mentorship and leadership
  • Safety, outreach, and community support programs

Notable participating partners include:
Atira Women’s Resource Society, The Centre for Child Development, DIVERSEcity, Fraser Health, Métis Family Services, Surrey Crime Prevention Society, and several others who work alongside Surrey Schools throughout the year.

Why This Event Matters

For newcomers and longtime residents alike, navigating available supports can feel overwhelming. The fair is designed to remove those barriers—helping families learn about programs, ask questions, and make connections quickly, comfortably, and all in one place.

Students can also explore youth programs, volunteer opportunities, mentorship pathways, and community organizations committed to helping them thrive. Staff attending the event will gain a deeper understanding of the resources available to support students in their classrooms and throughout the district.
