Burke Hood stops 55 shots as Vancouver Giants edge Everett Silvertips 4-3, securing back-to-back big wins with team-wide effort.

Burke Hood’s Career Night Powers Giants

Langley, BC — It was a night to remember for Vancouver Giants netminder Burke Hood. The 19-year-old goalie put on a show, making a career-high 55 saves to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory over the league-leading Everett Silvertips at Langley Events Centre on Saturday.

The third period was pure Hood magic, as he turned aside 23 shots alone, helping Vancouver hold off a furious Everett rally. Hood’s dominance now gives him an impressive 3-0-0 record against the Silvertips with a .942 save percentage, stopping 129 of 137 shots faced.

Four Scorers Shine for Vancouver

Vancouver got contributions from four different players: Leonardo Domenichelli, Ty Halaburda, Cameron Schmidt, and Torretto Marrelli. Early fireworks set the tone, with Domenichelli scoring on Vancouver’s first shot of the game after an Everett turnover. Just 32 seconds later, Halaburda added a goal off a pass from Ryan Lin, marking his 15th goal of the season.

Everett responded with a goal from Jesse Heslop, but Schmidt quickly restored the two-goal lead, scoring his team-leading 17th goal of the season. Marrelli capped the first half of the game with a shorthanded penalty shot goal, stretching Vancouver’s lead to 4-1.

Third Period: Hood’s Masterclass

The third period belonged entirely to Hood. Despite Everett outshooting Vancouver 24-5, the Giants’ netminder allowed only one goal. Everett’s Carter Bear connected with Julius Miettinen for a quick tally, but Hood’s relentless stops kept Vancouver in control.

Head Coach Parker Burgess praised the team effort:
“The kids just left it all out there. Two really, really good periods… That’s the best team in the WHL, at least so far that we’ve seen. We bent a little bit, but we didn’t break. Two big points—so proud of the kids.”

Hood and Ryan Lin were named first and third stars of the game, respectively, highlighting both goaltending brilliance and playmaking skill.

Giants Riding Momentum Into Busy Weekend

This victory came just a day after Kelton Pyne made 46 saves in a shootout win against the Penticton Vees. Vancouver now heads into a packed 3-in-3 weekend, starting Friday, December 5, at home against Portland at 7 p.m., before traveling to Everett and Portland for back-to-back games.

With Hood in top form and a balanced attack, the Giants are sending a clear message: they’re ready to challenge any top team in the WHL.
