Late-Night Shooting Sends Woman to Hospital in Surrey

A quiet Sunday evening turned chaotic in Surrey after gunfire erupted outside a home in the 12100-block of 101B Avenue, sending one woman to hospital and triggering a large police response.

Just after 9:10 p.m. on Nov. 23, Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers arrived to find a woman inside the residence suffering from injuries consistent with the shooting. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Several other people were inside the home at the time, but no one else was hurt.

Police quickly taped off the street and began searching the area for physical and digital evidence. Investigators say it’s too early to confirm a motive, and there is no known extortion connection at this stage. SPS will be working with partner agencies to assess links to other recent files.

Anyone who was in the area between 8:30 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact SPS non-emergency at 604-599-0502 and quote file 25-103720 (SP).

Police Cruiser Crashed While Responding

Around the same time, an SPS cruiser responding to the shooting was involved in a collision in the 12500-block of 96 Avenue. SPS says the officers had lights and sirens activated when another vehicle struck their SUV.

Both officers were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. The two occupants of the civilian vehicle were not hurt. The crash remains under investigation.

Other Recent Shooting Cases in Surrey

This is the latest in a series of violent incidents in the city:

• In October, a woman was injured while sleeping when shots were fired into a home in the 13000-block of 103A Avenue.
• In November, a worker at a South Surrey mansion was reportedly shot in the face after the property was targeted twice in under a week.

SPS confirms 104 extortion-related files have been reported so far this year, including 44 shootings, involving 75 distinct victims—individuals and businesses combined.

Police continue to urge residents to report suspicious activity immediately.
