Surrey and White Rock businesses raised over $8,200 and donated 431 pounds of food to Surrey Food Bank during a festive annual fundraiser.

A Community Comes Together for a Cause

Right when it mattered most, the Surrey and White Rock business community showed up in a big way. During a lively holiday gathering, local professionals came together and raised $8,251 and 431 pounds of food for the Surrey Food Bank. Because of this generosity, many families will head into winter with much-needed support.

Seasonal Sizzle Turns Giving Into Action

Every year, the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade hosts its popular Seasonal Sizzle Business Reception, and this year’s event did not disappoint. Held on Dec. 4 at Surrey City Hall, the evening drew more than 600 business leaders. Instead of paying admission fees, attendees chose to donate directly to the food bank. As a result, the impact grew fast.

Meanwhile, the event partnered with The Full Cupboard, helping ensure donations reached the people who need them most.

Business Leaders Step Up During Tough Times

According to Joslyn Young, Chief Executive Officer of the Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade, the generosity came at a critical moment. Rising inflation and high living costs continue to strain households across the region. Therefore, every dollar and every pound of food now matters more than ever.

Because of the donations, families in Surrey and White Rock will gain better access to essential food support. More importantly, the event reminded everyone that strong communities grow when people give together.

Retro Style, Real Impact

Although the mission stayed serious, the night kept a festive vibe. Sponsored by Envision Financial and ThoughtsWin Systems, the celebration featured a fun vintage holiday theme, complete with retro décor and live music. As a result, guests enjoyed the night while also making a difference.

A Strong Tradition of Giving Continues

Last year, the Seasonal Sizzle raised $10,800 and more than 700 pounds of food. While this year’s total came in slightly lower, the impact remains powerful. Above all, the event continues to prove that local businesses care deeply about the communities they serve.
