OneBC Leader Dallas Brodie Removed by Party Board

In a dramatic turn for B.C. politics, the OneBC party’s board of directors says it has removed Dallas Brodie from her position as leader. The announcement, made in a statement posted online early Sunday, cited serious internal issues and steps taken to protect party assets as reasons for the decision. 

The removal comes just months after Brodie helped launch OneBC following a split from the B.C. Conservative Party, raising questions about the new party’s stability and future direction. 

What the Party Says Happened

According to the board’s statement, agents acting under Brodie’s instructions allegedly tried to access and control party systems and databases without authorization. In response, board members passed special resolutions to remove Brodie, launch an external investigation, and amend the party constitution. 

The board also said it has taken steps to protect membership information and sensitive internal data amid the dispute. 

Tara Armstrong, the party’s only other MLA in the B.C. legislature, posted on social media that she had lost confidence in Brodie’s leadership, suggesting deeper divisions within the party’s leadership ranks. 

Brodie’s Response and Next Steps

Despite the official announcement, Dallas Brodie maintains she still views herself as interim leader and is holding an event in Langley, B.C., but she clarified it is “not a party event.” Brodie later described the situation as “a little turbulence” on social media. 

At this stage, Brodie and other OneBC figures have not offered further detailed public comments, and party insiders did not immediately respond to requests for clarification. 

What This Means for OneBC’s Future

The unfolding leadership dispute puts OneBC’s stability in question, especially given the party’s brief history and recent formation after splitting from another political group earlier this year. 

With only two elected legislators in the legislature originally affiliated with OneBC, the party’s ability to maintain official status or advance its agenda could be affected, depending on how the leadership transition plays out.
