Arrest in long-unsolved case
Police have made an arrest in the nearly six-year-old homicide of a Coquitlam man after investigators continued working the cold case. Officers arrested a 31-year-old man from Port Coquitlam in connection with the death of 24-year-old Edi Bogere, whose body was discovered on January 11, 2020 near a vacant forested area in Maple Ridge. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team led the probe that culminated in charges being approved earlier this month.
Charges now approved
Prosecutors with the BC Prosecution Service have approved one count of second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of indignity to human remains against the suspect, identified as Alan Mohammed Taheri. He was taken into custody on December 19, 2025, and now faces court proceedings over the charges tied to Bogere’s death.
Victim’s last known movements
Police believe Bogere was last seen leaving his Coquitlam home the evening of December 27, 2019, before his body turned up two weeks later on a forested property. At the time, investigators treated the case as suspicious, and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has since spent years gathering evidence that eventually led to the arrest and charges.
Investigation still active
Authorities say the investigation remains active, and they continue to review evidence and seek any additional information the public may have about the case. Anyone with tips is encouraged to reach out to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.
