A quiet New Year’s night in Surrey was disrupted by gunfire, after police rushed to a home in the Newton neighbourhood following reports of shots fired.
Incident Reported Just Before Midnight
Shortly before midnight on January 1, 2026, Surrey Police Service officers responded to an emergency call from a residence near 140B Street and 59 Avenue. When officers arrived, they discovered an adult man suffering from what appeared to be a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to hospital, where he was later listed in stable condition .
Suspect Arrested at the Scene
While officers secured the area, a second adult male who was present inside the home was taken into custody. Police confirmed the arrest as part of the ongoing investigation.
