Late-Night Gunfire Shakes Newton Neighborhood

Surrey’s Newton community was rattled early Wednesday morning when gunshots hit a local home. Surrey Police Service (SPS) confirmed the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on January 7, 2026, at a residence on the 12300 block of 77A Avenue.

Property Damaged, No Injuries Reported

When officers arrived, they found the home had suffered damage from the shots fired. Thankfully, no one inside was harmed. The quick response ensured that the scene was secured while investigators began their work.

Investigation Underway

The SPS Frontline Investigative Support Team (FLIST) is leading the probe. Authorities are actively collecting evidence, reviewing CCTV and dashcam footage, and collaborating with other police units to determine whether this shooting connects to a broader series of extortion cases in Surrey.

Police Seek Community Help

SPS urges anyone with information—whether you captured something on camera or have details about potential suspects—to come forward. Tips can be shared through the non-emergency line at 604-599-0502 or anonymously via Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or www.solvecrime.ca. Please reference file number 26-2010 (SP).
