At about 12:30 am on January 19, 2026, Surrey Police Service officers responded to several calls about shots fired. The reports pointed to a high-rise apartment in the 9600 block of 136A Street. Officers arrived quickly and moved with urgency to secure the area.

Apartment Suite Identified, Several People Detained

Soon after arriving, police located the apartment suite linked to the gunfire. Officers detained several people who were inside at the time. Investigators believe shots were fired inside the suite and also from a balcony. Even so, no injuries were reported, which brought some relief to shaken residents.
