Langley, BC – A calm Saturday afternoon at Willowbrook Shopping Centre turned chaotic when a targeted incident left one person seriously injured. Police say the situation unfolded quickly but there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Police and Emergency Crews Respond Swiftly
Multiple Langley RCMP officers were called to the shopping centre around 4:30 p.m., responding to reports of an alleged robbery. Emergency personnel quickly located the victim, a youth, who appeared to have been assaulted with a weapon. They were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Sgt. Zynal Sharoom of the Langley RCMP reassured the public, saying, “Officers responded quickly to ensure the safety of everyone in the area. At this time, there is no ongoing risk to the public as this incident appears to be targeted.”
Eyewitnesses Describe the Scene
Shoppers reported a heavy police presence on the west side of the complex. One store employee mentioned that pepper spray had been used during what seemed like a robbery attempt. Social media quickly shared images of the response, showing officers securing the area and assisting the injured individual.
