Surrey Celebrates 15 Years of Earth Day Fun

Surrey Civic Plaza is buzzing with excitement! On Saturday, April 25, Party for the Planet, proudly presented by TD Bank Group, returns for its 15th year. B.C.’s largest Earth Day celebration promises a day full of learning, community spirit, and plenty of fun.

“Celebrating 15 years of Party for the Planet reminds us that protecting the environment starts with each of us,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “This event shows how a community committed to sustainability can make a difference. I invite everyone to join us, enjoy the festivities, and take meaningful steps toward a greener future.”

A Day Packed with Activities

The festival offers something for everyone. From music on the Earth and Meadow Stages to dance battles and lessons on the Community Stage, there’s no shortage of entertainment. Families can visit the Family Stage to engage with Science World and the Urban Safari Rescue Society.

Along University Drive, guests will find local exhibitors, vegan and vegetarian food trucks, and a free rock-climbing wall courtesy of Dawson + Sawyer. Back by popular demand, the Surrey Parks’ plant sale will feature 26 native species, from shrubs and trees to perennials and ferns, starting at just $3. The first 750 attendees will even receive free tomato plants after the Mayor’s Ceremony at City Hall.

Sponsors and Sustainability

“TD is proud to sponsor Surrey’s Party for the Planet for the 15th consecutive year,” said Chris Sirovyak, Surrey district vice president of TD Bank Group. “We believe our actions today shape tomorrow. Supporting this event is one way we help create a more vibrant planet for future generations.”

Learn, Explore, and Make a Difference

Interactive booths give residents a hands-on look at Surrey’s environmental services. At the ReThink Waste booth, visitors can see how organics, garbage, and recycling are collected and processed. Street maintenance initiatives, including litter collection and large-item pickup, will also be highlighted.

Meanwhile, the Climate-Friendly Home booth offers energy-efficient tips, fun games, and chances to win zero-waste prizes. It’s all about learning, engaging, and leaving with practical steps to make a real impact.

Party for the Planet is more than a celebration—it’s a chance for Surrey residents to connect, have fun, and commit to a greener future, one activity at a time.
