Bayview Seniors Community opens in White Rock

There is a new option for seniors in White Rock. Bayview Seniors Community White Rock has begun welcoming residents to its 82‑bed long‑term care home on Buena Vista Avenue. The team held a ribbon‑cutting ceremony on December 2 to celebrate the soft launch and first move‑ins.

Located at 15400 Buena Vista Avenue, Bayview Seniors Community White Rock aims to combine healthcare, hospitality and a sense of home. The building sits close to the city’s core, which helps families visit and stay involved in daily life.

A home designed around residents and families

Bayview director of operations Walter Downey says Bayview Seniors Community White Rock was designed “with intention.” Each floor, lounge and dining space focuses on comfort, safety and social connection. Staff want to honour each resident’s story and give families peace of mind.

The community uses a resident‑centred approach. That means care plans reflect personal routines, cultural background and preferences, rather than a one‑size‑fits‑all schedule. It also means staff, families and community partners help shape activities, menus and common‑area features.

City and community leaders mark the opening

White Rock Mayor Megan Knight led the ribbon‑cutting for Bayview Seniors Community White Rock. Standing beside her was Madeline, the first resident to call Bayview home. The moment underlined that this project is not only about a new building, but also about the people who will live there.

Knight thanked Bayview’s team and partners for investing in local seniors. She noted that the new home creates jobs in White Rock while adding much‑needed long‑term care capacity for aging residents who want to stay close to their community. Several city councillors also attended to show support.

Inside the new long-term care home

Guests at the opening toured suites, lounges and dining areas to see what Bayview Seniors Community White Rock will offer. They sampled appetizers and sparkling drinks that reflect the type of cuisine residents can expect. Test menus and activity calendars gave a preview of daily life, from social events to wellness programs.

Common spaces follow a hospitality‑driven style, with warm finishes, comfortable seating and spaces for families to gather. Yet they also include practical details like wide hallways, accessible washrooms and supportive lighting to help residents move around safely.

What Bayview means for local senior care

For families in White Rock and South Surrey, Bayview Seniors Community White Rock adds another option to a tight long‑term care market. Instead of looking far outside the city, more seniors may now find a bed close to home, doctors and long‑time neighbours.

As the population ages, projects like Bayview Seniors Community White Rock will play a growing role in how the region supports older adults. The new home promises not only medical care, but also community, daily connection and a place where “every memory matters,” as the team behind Bayview describes it.
