PJHL hockey festivals in Cloverdale and Richmond

The Pacific Junior Hockey League will stage two PJHL hockey festivals in Cloverdale and Richmond during the final days of December. The Winter Showcase lands at the brand-new Cloverdale Sport and Ice Complex from December 27 to 30. The Winter Classic follows at Richmond’s Minoru Arena from December 28 to 30.

Both events use a tournament-style format that packs regular-season games into a few days. Fans can binge-watch multiple teams, while players skate in front of major junior and college scouts.

Winter Showcase comes to Cloverdale

Cloverdale HC, the league’s newest franchise, will host the Winter Showcase. All teams from the Harold Brittain Conference will take part, with each club playing two games at the Cloverdale Sport and Ice Complex.

General manager Brien Gemmell said his group is excited to welcome the league. He noted that the schedule lets fans see every conference team over the holidays. The central Surrey location also works well for supporters from Surrey, White Rock, Port Moody, Mission, Abbotsford and Aldergrove.

Operations manager Robert Rose called CSIC “a great facility” for the festival. Because the ice time is spread out, organizers do not need to cram games into late hours. Rose added that the Showcase will help “showcase our players” for WHL and other scouts, while still counting in the regular-season standings.

Tickets stay family-friendly: $10 for general admission, $5 for seniors, and free entry for kids 12 and under. All games stream live on FloHockey.

Winter Classic hits the ice in Richmond

At the same time, the PJHL Winter Classic will run at Minoru Arena in Richmond. Hosted by the Richmond Sockeyes, this festival features teams from the Tom Shaw Conference.

Sockeyes president Doug Paterson said the club is proud to partner with the city and the league on the event. He called December an “exciting time of year” for hockey in Richmond and highlighted the Classic as a key showcase for local talent.

Like the Showcase, Winter Classic games will be broadcast on FloHockeyTV. Ticket details will be announced separately, but all seven games also count toward regular-season standings. The league expects scouts from the WHL, U Sports and college programs across North America.
