Join Surrey & White Rock on Feb. 28 for Coldest Night of the Year! Walk, fundraise, and support local charities helping the homeless.

Thousands Set to Brave the Cold for a Cause

The annual Coldest Night of the Year is back, bringing communities together for a meaningful cause. Across Canada, thousands will hit the streets on Feb. 28, walking to raise funds for local charities that support those experiencing homelessness.

In Surrey, walkers, rollers, and strollers will take part at four locations: Cloverdale, Newton, White Rock/South Surrey, and Whalley. The family-friendly event combines community connection with raising awareness about homelessness.

Cloverdale Gears Up for the Walk

Cloverdale’s event, hosted by the Storehouse Community Hub Society at the Cloverdale Community Kitchen, will start and finish at the Pacific Community Church.

Lindsay Rempel, Storehouse’s event director, encourages locals to team up and fundraise. “This is a great way to connect with your neighbors while making a real difference,” she says.

With seven weeks left, Cloverdale has already raised over $32,000 of its $250,000 goal, thanks to nearly 100 walkers across 34 teams.

Newton Walk Supports Local Families

In Newton, Moving Forward Family Services will host the walk at Newton Athletic Park. Participants can choose between 2 KM and 5 KM routes, all starting and ending at the park.

Currently, Newton has raised nearly $2,000 toward its $20,000 goal, with 30 walkers on 11 teams signed up.

Whalley Aims High Despite Slow Start

The Surrey Urban Mission Society (SUMS) is hosting the Whalley walk, which will begin and end at the SUMS Surrey Welcome Hub.

Though initial fundraising is slow, two teams are already registered, and organizers hope to surpass last year’s success by raising $45,000—more than double last year’s goal of $20,000.

White Rock Leads with Strong Early Support

Sources Community Resources Society is hosting the White Rock/South Surrey walk at the iconic White Rock Pier. Participants can pick from 2 KM or 5 KM routes.

White Rock is off to a strong start, raising over $37,000 of its $300,000 goal with nearly 90 walkers on 33 teams registered.

A Nationwide Impact

Last year, Coldest Night of the Year raised over $15 million across Canada, proving that when communities unite, even small steps can create big change. Every dollar raised in Surrey and White Rock stays local, directly helping those in need.

Whether walking, rolling, or strolling, everyone can make an impact. With just seven weeks to go, organizers hope even more locals will join and help reach these ambitious goals.
