Delta police reveal recent investigations, arrests, and safety operations keeping the community secure before, during, and after incidents.

Delta Police Keep the Community Informed

Delta police are giving residents a clear look at what’s happening on the frontlines. From daily patrols to major investigations, their teams are working around the clock to prevent crime and protect the community, both during incidents and long after the call ends.

In a social media post Friday morning, the department highlighted how officers “work 24/7 preventing crime trends from disrupting our community.” Here’s a closer look at some of the latest investigations.

Firearm Found During Traffic Stop

Earlier this month, C Platoon officers conducted a traffic stop in the 7500 Block of 120th Street. The stop led to the discovery of a loaded firearm hidden under the driver’s seat. All occupants of the vehicle were arrested, with the driver and one passenger held in custody. Police have recommended multiple charges to the Crown against those involved.

Joint Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Operation

Delta’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit (CVEU) recently teamed up with six Lower Mainland police agencies for a joint force operation along Deltaport Way. Officers inspected 35 commercial vehicles during the one-day blitz, issuing 48 violation tickets and placing 23 vehicles out of service. The operation aimed to ensure road safety and compliance with transport regulations.

Charges Approved in Dangerous Driving Case

The Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) reported progress on a January 2025 incident in the 6000 Block of 120th Street. Crown approved charges for dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and failing to stop after an accident.

Investigators canvassed CCTV footage and called on the public for witnesses, which proved crucial in identifying the vehicle. Analysis showed the driver ran a red light and struck a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk. The victim is recovering, and charges are moving forward.

Impaired Driving Conviction After 2023 Collision

Following a collision on River Road in November 2023, the Traffic Unit’s investigation has concluded with a conviction. The driver was found guilty of operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs and alcohol.

The sentence includes a $1,500 fine and a one-year driving prohibition. Police confirmed the driver had consumed both alcohol and cannabis before speeding, causing significant property damage and injuries to themselves.

Delta police continue to maintain vigilance, working across units and communities to prevent crime, investigate incidents, and enforce safety laws. Residents are encouraged to stay informed and report any suspicious activity to help keep Delta safe.
