Early Morning Shooting at Surrey Business Under SPS Investigation
Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating an early morning shooting at a business in the area of 82 Avenue and 124 Street, according to a statement released on Thursday.
Police said the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on December 11, when suspect or suspects arrived at the business and fired multiple rounds before fleeing in a dark-coloured vehicle.
No one was inside the building at the time, and no injuries were reported. According to SPS, this is the second time the same business has been targeted in a shooting.
An employee discovered the damage shortly before 7:45 a.m. and contacted police. Officers attended and secured the scene.
SPS confirmed that the Organized Crime Unit (OCU) has taken over the investigation. Police say the case is in its early stages, and investigators are gathering evidence and coordinating with partner agencies to determine whether the shooting is connected to other incidents.
At this time, investigators believe the attack is linked to the ongoing extortion series in Surrey, police said.
Anyone with information, including CCTV or dashcam footage from the area, is urged to contact SPS’ non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, the Surrey Extortion Tip Line at 236-485-5149, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 and reference file 25-109899 (SP).
