Parole Board Approves Release of Convicted Former Doctor

A former physician from Vernon who served time for sexual assault offences has now been granted full parole, provincial records show. His release follows a thorough review by the Parole Board of Canada of his conduct and risk assessment while in custody.

Case History and Custody Review

The man, once a medical professional practising in Vernon, faced multiple sexual assault charges for incidents that occurred between 2018 and 2020. He pled guilty to three counts in early 2024, and a judge later sentenced him to just over three years in prison after a related trial phase that saw one charge dismissed.

After spending about a year incarcerated, he first received day parole in August 2025, during which officials reported he complied with all release conditions and maintained transparency with his case management team. As a result, the Parole Board advanced his case toward full parole.

Parole Board Decision and Conditions

In its written decision, the parole board cited psychological evaluations that concluded the doctor posed a low to moderate risk of future sexual violence. Reviewers noted he had no disciplinary issues during his time in custody and completed mandated treatment programs while there.

Based on those assessments and his parole track record, the board granted full parole effective December 19, 2025. Conditions attached to his release are designed to limit risk and monitor behaviour in the community. These include strict restrictions on alcohol and drug use; prohibitions on contact with his victims; limits on travel; supervision of electronic devices; and reporting requirements for personal relationships and activities.

Life Under Supervision Following Release

Alongside these rules, he must continue residing at his family’s home and attend private counselling and medical appointments. Parole officers will regularly oversee his compliance with all terms, a standard practice for individuals granted full parole after serious convictions.
