Police conduct four-day sweep of gang and drug activity

A coordinated police operation targeting gang and drug networks in Kamloops led to significant seizures over several days last week. Officers were deployed across multiple areas, focusing especially on locations linked to organized criminal activity.

The operation was led by the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit’s Unified Gang Enforcement Team in cooperation with Kamloops RCMP. Over four days of targeted action, police worked to disrupt violent gang networks and the illegal drug trade.

Key items taken off the streets

During the sweep, police seized 11 illegally possessed firearms and about 1.75 kilograms of suspected drugs, including cocaine, fentanyl and crystal methamphetamine. Officers also recovered cash believed to be tied to criminal activity.

Investigators made multiple arrests, with some individuals held in custody due to outstanding warrants, while others were released pending further investigation.

What authorities say about the effort

Sgt. Sarbjit Sangha of the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit described the action as part of ongoing efforts to protect community safety by disrupting organized crime and removing dangerous drugs and weapons from local streets.

Police say the operation reflects strong cooperation between provincial anti-gang units and local RCMP, and that work will continue to target individuals and groups involved in violent and drug-related crime.

Impact and next steps

The seizure of firearms and large quantities of drugs is expected to have a meaningful impact on criminal networks operating in Kamloops, and authorities say the investigation remains active. Members of the public with information about related activity are encouraged to contact police.
