Tragic Morning Fire Shocks Surrey

Early Sunday morning, a quiet Surrey street woke to chaos. Meanwhile, flames tore through a home on the 12700 block of 56 Avenue. Then, emergency calls poured in just after 7 a.m. on January 12, 2025.

Crews Rush In as Flames Spread

Next, Surrey Police Service officers rushed to help close roads. At the same time, Surrey Fire Service crews battled a fully engulfed house. As a result, firefighters searched every room for anyone inside.

Deceased Man Discovered Inside Home

Sadly, crews found the body of an adult man inside the home. Therefore, first responders confirmed he had died at the scene. However, officials have not yet shared his identity.

Serious Crime Unit Takes Over

Following that, the SPS Serious Crime Unit stepped in. Additionally, investigators began working with the BC Coroner and fire experts. So, the teams aim to learn how the fire started and how the man died.

Cause Still Unknown as Probe Continues

For now, police say it is too early to call the death suspicious. Likewise, the fire’s cause remains unclear. Still, investigators continue their work step by step.
