Shooting in Chilliwack Leaves One Dead

Chilliwack RCMP say they responded to reports of shots fired shortly after 1:00 a.m. on February 17, 2026, in the area of South Sumas Road and Young Road a predominantly residential and commercial corridor in the city.
Officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds when they arrived. Despite life-saving attempts from first responders, he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
No Arrests Yet, Investigation Underway
RCMP confirmed that no arrests have been made at this time. Detectives from the Chilliwack Major Crime Unit are leading the investigation, interviewing potential witnesses and canvassing the area for surveillance footage.
Police say they do not believe the public is at ongoing risk but caution that the investigation is early and fluid.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the area around the time of the shooting especially between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. to come forward with information.
