Bayview Seniors Community opens in White Rock with new long-term care, warm spaces, jobs, and guided tours for future residents.
A Warm Start for a New Seniors Community
White Rock now has a bright new place for older adults to call home. The Bayview Seniors Community, an 82-bed long-term care residence, held a lively ribbon-cutting event on Dec. 2 as move-ins began and the community entered its soft launch. The building sits at 15400 Buena Vista Ave., close to the sea and close to local families who want quality care for loved ones.
Built for Comfort, Connection and Care
From the start, Bayview was created with clear intention. And because of that focus, every part of the space was shaped to feel warm, open and supportive. Director of operations Walter Downey shared that Bayview was designed to honour each resident’s story while also giving families steady support. Moreover, he explained that this opening marks the end of years of teamwork, planning and dedication to better senior care in White Rock.
Leaders Celebrate the Community’s First Resident
During the ceremony, White Rock Mayor Megan Knight led the ribbon cutting with Bayview’s first resident, Madeline, standing proudly at her side. Knight thanked the entire team for bringing the vision to life, and she also welcomed the new jobs and new energy the community brings to the city.
Spaces Shaped by Community Input
Inside Bayview, guests saw bright and calm rooms created with feedback from staff, families and industry partners. And as visitors walked through, they saw test menus, activity calendars, and cozy spaces meant to feel like home. Furthermore, these features show how Bayview aims to offer not only safety, but also joy, routine and social connection.
Tours, Tastes and First Impressions
Guests enjoyed champagne and appetizers just a small preview of the food future residents will enjoy. Additionally, guided tours gave everyone an early look at living areas, shared rooms and the community’s hospitality-driven style. Several council members attended, and many shared kind words about the positive impact Bayview will have on local seniors.

A New Chapter for Senior Care in White Rock
All in all, the event marked more than a simple opening. Instead, it launched a new chapter for seniors who want care close to home, families who want reassurance, and a city that continues to grow its network of support. And with residents beginning to move in, Bayview is ready to become a meaningful part of everyday life in White Rock.
