A new private member’s bill is calling for greater transparency around seniors care in British Columbia.
Brennan Day, the Conservative MLA for Courtenay-Comox, has introduced legislation that would require the province to publish monthly reports detailing wait times for seniors care services.
Day says the purpose of the bill is to develop a clear, time-bound strategy to address critical shortages in the system. He argues that regular reporting would improve accountability and help government track progress more effectively.
According to Day, the ultimate goal is to create and implement a plan within one year that meaningfully reduces wait times and improves access to care for seniors across B.C.
The proposal aims to bring more transparency to a sector facing growing demand and ongoing resource pressures.
