RCMP Investigates After Man Found Dead on Christmas
Lake Country police are investigating a shocking death that occurred on Christmas evening. Shortly after 9:30 p.m. on December 25, officers were called to a home on the 16000-block of Gatzke Road. When they arrived, they found a 43-year-old man dead.
Because the circumstances don’t yet make sense, investigators are treating this as a suspicious death and looking into what happened.
Major Crime Unit Takes Lead
Right away, the BC RCMP’s Major Crime Unit, often called the MCU, took over the investigation. That means police believe there may be more to this case than an accident or natural causes.
They have publicly named the man as Joseph Robert McCook to help the inquiry and have also released his photo. Police say the public’s help could be key in understanding what led up to his death.
Public Asked to Come Forward
Investigators are asking anyone who saw or heard anything unusual on Christmas evening in or around the Gatzke Road area to come forward. If people have information, even if they think it may be small or unimportant, RCMP urges them to get in touch.
Anyone who hasn’t yet spoken with police but might have details that help should call the MCU information line at 1-877-987-8477.
Community Left with Questions
As this case unfolds, local residents and families in Lake Country are left with questions about what happened on a night usually filled with celebration. Police continue to investigate, and because this is an active case, they have not released all details yet.
