Surrey police charge man with assault and weapon offences after a February attack in Whalley; suspect remains in custody ahead of March court date.

Surrey Police Approve Charges After Violent Whalley Incident

Surrey police have confirmed charges following an alarming assault in Whalley that involved a weapon and multiple victims.

On the early hours of February 14, 2026, around 12:05 a.m., two men allegedly attacked a woman at a business on the 10200 block of City Parkway. When a witness stepped in to help, he too became a target. Reports indicate he suffered several cuts on his arm and a bite wound. Emergency responders from BCEHS treated him at the scene.

Major Crime Section Steps In

Members of the Surrey Police Service (SPS) Frontline initially responded to the scene. The case was later handed over to SPS’s Major Crime Section, which conducted a thorough investigation. Their work quickly led to the identification and arrest of a suspect.

Charges Approved by BC Prosecution Service

On February 24, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges against 24-year-old D’Ian Lloyd Ronald McLeod. He now faces:

  • Assault causing bodily harm under Section 267(b) of the Criminal Code
  • Assault with a weapon under Section 267(a)
  • Failure to comply with a release order under Section 145(5)(a)

McLeod remains in custody, awaiting his next court appearance scheduled for March 9, 2026.

Community Safety Remains a Priority

SPS emphasises its commitment to public safety and encourages witnesses to come forward. “Prompt intervention and citizen vigilance were key in this case,” a spokesperson noted.
