Bank Robbery Reported in Surrey’s Newton Neighbourhood
A police investigation is underway after a reported bank robbery occurred in Surrey’s Newton area on the afternoon of April 13, 2026.
According to Surrey Police Service (SPS), frontline officers were called to a bank located along the 7100 block of King George Boulevard shortly after 4:00 p.m. following reports of a robbery. The suspect had already left the scene on foot before police arrived.
Quick Police Response Leads to Arrest
Officers were able to quickly respond and begin searching the surrounding area. With support from the Real Time Intelligence Centre (RTIC), which provided live updates and monitoring, police were able to track down a suspect nearby.
The individual was located in the area of 70B Avenue and 134 Street and taken into custody without incident. Authorities also confirmed that potential evidence linked to the case was recovered during the arrest.
Suspect Remains in Custody
The suspect, described as an adult male, is currently in police custody. At this time, formal charges under the Criminal Code have not yet been officially laid.
The investigation remains active as officers continue to gather information and process evidence related to the incident.

Surrey Police Service is asking anyone who may have information about the incident and has not yet spoken with investigators to come forward.
