IHIT now leads Surrey homicide probe after a man was found dead. Suspect in custody; police urge witnesses to share information.

IHIT Assumes Control of Surrey Homicide Probe

Surrey police and emergency services were called to a tense scene on March 21, 2026, when a man was found injured and unresponsive on Foxglove Drive. Now, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has stepped in to lead the investigation.

At around 11:15 a.m., officers from the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit (SPOSU) responded to the 9800 block of Foxglove Drive. They assisted the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) and Surrey Fire Services in treating the man, who sadly could not be revived and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Suspect in Custody, Investigation Ongoing

Authorities have confirmed that a suspect has been taken into custody, although no charges have yet been approved by the BC Prosecution Service. Early indications suggest this was an isolated incident.

IHIT is now coordinating closely with RCMP SPOSU to tackle key investigative tasks and piece together the events leading up to the man’s death.

Police Urge Public to Come Forward

Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact IHIT directly. Tips can be shared by calling 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or emailing ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. As the lead investigative agency, IHIT requests that all media inquiries be directed to them.

With IHIT taking the lead, authorities hope to quickly uncover the full story behind this tragic event and ensure justice is served.
