Surrey man faces charges for two sexual assaults on buses, with strict travel restrictions imposed by Metro Vancouver Transit Police.
Surrey Man Arrested After Two Bus Sexual Assaults
A 32-year-old Surrey man has been charged in connection with two separate sexual assaults on public buses, sparking concern about safety on local transit.
The first attack happened on July 8, 2025, when a woman reported being assaulted while riding a bus in Surrey. Metro Vancouver Transit Police acted quickly, arresting Mohammad Wardak shortly after the report.
Earlier Assault Comes to Light
Further investigation revealed that Wardak may also be responsible for a similar assault on a Surrey bus in April 2025. Police said the second incident came to light after a victim disclosed the attack to a school counsellor.
Charges and Restrictions
Wardak has been charged with sexual assault for both cases. He has since been released under strict conditions, which include a ban on using any public buses, SkyTrain, or West Coast Express services.
Transit Police Urge Public to Report Incidents
Metro Vancouver Transit Police emphasized the importance of reporting sexual offenses. Const. Amanda Steed said, “Reducing sexual offences on transit is a priority, and we take every report seriously.” Transit authorities encourage anyone who experiences or witnesses an incident to come forward.
Public safety on buses has become a pressing issue, and police continue to investigate and enforce measures to keep passengers safe.
