Surrey’s healthcare system continues to grow to meet rising demand as more people choose to live and raise families in the region.
Surrey Memorial Hospital has recently expanded its specialty care services, bringing advanced heart and diagnostic services closer to home. This includes new cardiac catheterization suites — the first of their kind south of the Fraser River — as well as additional interventional radiology spaces that offer modern, minimally invasive imaging and treatment options.
These enhancements mean residents no longer need to travel into Vancouver or New Westminster for important heart procedures and advanced imaging. For many patients, that translates to quicker diagnoses, faster treatment and greater comfort being treated in their own community.
Elsewhere on the hospital campus, upgrades to diagnostic imaging continue, including a mobile MRI unit to ensure uninterrupted access for urgent scans while long-term imaging equipment is installed. The facility is also planning a future renal care expansion to help people needing dialysis closer to home.
As Surrey’s population grows, these investments signal a major commitment to improving local health care — shortening wait times, strengthening critical services and building a system that keeps patients and families front of mind.
