Gunfire Investigation Underway in Cloverdale
Police in Surrey are investigating a shooting incident after reports of gunfire near a business in the Cloverdale area.
Officers responded to the scene near 58 Avenue and 176 Street after witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots during the afternoon.
When police arrived, investigators located damage to at least one business believed to have been struck by gunfire.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Vehicle Fire Investigated for Possible Connection
Shortly after the shooting incident, emergency crews were also called to a vehicle fire in another nearby area of Surrey.
Investigators are now examining whether the burned vehicle may be connected to the earlier shooting.
At this stage, police say the motive behind the gunfire remains unknown.
Authorities have also indicated the incident is not currently believed to be connected to recent extortion-related violence seen elsewhere in Surrey.
Major Crime Detectives Leading Investigation
Surrey Police Service’s Major Crime Section has taken over the investigation as officers continue gathering evidence from both scenes.
Forensic investigators are expected to review surveillance footage, collect physical evidence, and speak with potential witnesses.
Traffic disruptions were reported near the crime scene while police processed the area.
Authorities are asking anyone with dashcam footage, CCTV recordings, or information related to the incident to contact investigators.
