Surrey Police seek woman after unauthorized NICU entry at Surrey Memorial

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a woman who entered the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Surrey Memorial Hospital and made physical contact with multiple infants.

According to investigators, the incident occurred around 6:55 a.m. on Oct. 28, 2025, when the woman managed to gain unauthorized access to the NICU. Police say she removed her shirt and made skin-to-skin contact with three infants before hospital security intervened and escorted her out of the building.

None of the infants were physically injured, but the interaction prompted an immediate review by hospital staff and security.

The SPS was notified several hours later, around 1:00 p.m., and launched an investigation. Despite reviewing available footage and conducting inquiries, police say they have not yet been able to identify the woman.

Suspect description

The woman is described as:

  • White female
  • 30–40 years old
  • 5’2” tall
  • Heavy build
  • Last seen wearing a black hoodie with “Essentials Department” written in white, dirty grey sweatpants, cream-coloured sandals, black socks, and carrying a camouflage jacket.

Police request for information

Anyone who can identify the woman or has information related to this incident is urged to contact the SPS non-emergency line at 604-599-0502, quoting file 25-94777 (SP).
