Surrey Rebels unveil a fresh logo, open box lacrosse registration, and celebrate alumni and leaders shaping the future of the sport.
A Fresh Face for the Surrey Rebels
A new season always brings excitement. This spring, the Surrey Rebels are turning heads even before the first whistle blows. The club is stepping onto the floor with a bold new logo that reflects the heart of Surrey itself.
The winning design comes from Robyn Ebert, who captured the region’s identity in a single image. Inspired by the ocean, winding rivers, and surrounding mountains, the logo connects the Rebels directly to the landscape they call home. As a result, the team enters the season with renewed energy and a look that truly belongs to the community.
Box Lacrosse Registration Now Open
At the same time, box lacrosse registration is officially underway. Sign-ups opened on December 1, and early bird pricing is available until the end of the month. Players and families can register online at surreylacrosse.com.
Because spots tend to fill quickly, early registration is encouraged. The box lacrosse season runs from April through mid-July, offering months of fast-paced action and skill development.
Lacrosse for Every Age and Skill Level
Based in Newton, the Surrey Lacrosse Association (SLA) supports both box and field programs. The Rebels represent box lacrosse, while the Warriors compete in field lacrosse, which runs outdoors from August to March.
Importantly, programs are open to all ages and skill levels. For box lacrosse, the catchment area includes Surrey north of 40 Avenue. Meanwhile, field lacrosse welcomes players from all of Surrey.
Games and practices take place at several well-known locations. These include Unwin Park, Royal Kwantlen Park, Holly Park, Cloverdale Athletic Park, and indoor arenas in North Surrey and Cloverdale.
Rebels Alumni Make Their Mark
The Rebels community recently celebrated another proud moment. Alumni player Kellen Bateman was drafted by the Langley-based Shooting Eagles of the Arena Lacrosse League.
This milestone reflects years of hard work and steady growth. In a message shared online, the Rebels praised Bateman’s dedication both on and off the floor. Unsurprisingly, the entire Rebels family is eager to watch his next chapter unfold.
New Leaders Step Forward
Leadership was also in focus at the SLA annual general meeting on November 21 at Cloverdale Recreation Centre. Several new executive members were welcomed, strengthening the organization’s foundation for the future.
The new team includes Kevin Holbeche as chair, Tim Hamm as vice-chair for the Rebels, Jeff Glass as vice-chair for the Warriors, and Bert Fong overseeing coaches and officials. They are joined by Rob Comack, Karen Piper, Brett Romano, Christina Clarke, and Susan Dos Santos in key roles.
A Well-Deserved Honour
In November, Tim Hamm received a Presidents Award from the BC Lacrosse Association. The recognition highlights years of commitment, leadership, and genuine care for the sport.
According to the association, Hamm’s influence has shaped athletes, supported families, and strengthened the wider Surrey lacrosse community. His steady presence continues to make a lasting difference.
