Shots and fires shook Surrey in three linked incidents Sunday morning. Police search for clues as investigators piece together what sparked the chaos.
Alarming Start to the Day
Sunday morning in Surrey began quietly, yet things changed fast. Police rushed across the city after shots rang out and two cars burst into flames in what investigators now believe are connected events. And even though the scenes looked intense, no injuries were reported.
First Fire Sparks Rapid Response
At 8:21 a.m., Surrey Police Service officers moved to the 10200 block of 125 Street after firefighters asked for backup at a burning vehicle. The flames rose quickly, so crews acted fast, and officers searched for clues right away.
Shots Ring Out Moments Later
Then, only minutes after the first call, another alert came in. This time, Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit officers headed to the 11000 block of 140A Street after people reported possible gunfire near a home. Neighbours described a sharp, sudden noise that broke the morning calm. And because the call came so close to the earlier fire, officers immediately looked for patterns.
Another Vehicle Ignites
Next, about thirty minutes later, SPS officers rushed to Regal Drive near Regent Place, where a second vehicle had caught fire. This quick series of incidents pushed police to consider a strong connection among all three.
Investigators Search for Answers
Officers remained on the scenes all day, and they looked for digital and physical evidence. They checked cameras, talked to neighbours, and moved through nearby streets. Although police say the incidents appear linked, the motive is still unclear. And while questions swirl, investigators say no extortion links have surfaced.
