IHIT leads Surrey homicide probe after early-morning shooting on Laurel Drive. One man dead, another in custody; authorities seek public tips.

Early-Morning Shooting Rocks Surrey Neighbourhood

Surrey residents were shaken in the early hours of March 15, 2026, when gunfire erupted in the 13900 block of Laurel Drive. Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers rushed to the scene around 1:40 a.m., discovering a man suffering from apparent gunshot injuries. Despite immediate aid from SPS and emergency responders from BCEHS, the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Arrest Made as Investigation Intensifies

Authorities arrested a man at the location, who is now in custody while investigators dig deeper into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has officially assumed control of the case, collaborating closely with SPS to prioritize critical investigative steps.

Public Assistance Sought

IHIT is calling on anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be shared via the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or emailed to ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca. With IHIT leading the investigation, all media inquiries should now be directed to their office.
