Delta police probe early-morning shooting at Tilbury Industrial Park business. Investigators believe the targeted attack may be tied to an extortion case.
Early-Morning Gunfire Sparks Investigation in Delta
An early-morning burst of gunfire has sparked a police investigation in Delta’s Tilbury Industrial Park. Officers believe the shooting was not random. Instead, investigators suspect the attack connects to an ongoing extortion case.
Police responded quickly after reports of gunshots echoed through the industrial area before dawn on Friday, March 13.
Officers Find Evidence at Industrial Park Business
At about 3:33 a.m., officers arrived at a business located in the 7500 block of Vantage Place. Shortly afterward, they discovered several bullet casings outside the property.
Investigators also confirmed that multiple rounds had been fired directly into the building.
Fortunately, no one was inside the business at the time. As a result, no injuries were reported.
Surveillance Video Shows Suspects Fleeing
Soon after the incident, police reviewed nearby surveillance footage. The video shows several occupants of a white sedan pulling up to the business. Moments later, the individuals fired several shots toward the building.
Afterward, the vehicle quickly sped away from the scene.
Because the incident appears deliberate, investigators believe the suspects specifically targeted the property.
Extortion Task Force Takes Over Case
Members of the Delta Police Department’s Extortion Task Force were already on duty when the call came in. Therefore, they responded immediately and soon took charge of the investigation.
So far, early findings suggest the shooting may relate to an extortion investigation. However, officers continue to gather evidence before confirming that connection.
Meanwhile, investigators are also working with other policing partners and the Provincial Extortion Task Force. Through this collaboration, they hope to determine whether the shooting links to similar cases elsewhere.
Police Ask Public for Help
Investigators are now canvassing the Tilbury Industrial Park area. At the same time, they are reviewing security cameras and searching for witnesses.
