Some Vancouver Swifties may get refunds after StubHub ticket issues. Consumer Protection BC enforces new transparency rules for resale tickets.
Refunds Coming for Some Vancouver Swift Fans
Taylor Swift fans who attended her Vancouver shows in December 2024 might be in for a surprise: a potential ticket refund. Consumer Protection BC announced a deal with StubHub on Wednesday that could see some concertgoers getting reimbursed.
Why Refunds Are Happening
The move comes after a fan complaint revealed that StubHub failed to disclose that certain tickets had obstructed or limited views. StubHub, a secondary ticket platform, now faces legally binding requirements to improve ticket information for buyers.
According to Consumer Protection BC, StubHub must clearly display ticket details, including face value, service fees, terms, conditions, and refund policies, in line with B.C.’s Ticket Sales Act.
Financial Penalties and Consumer Protection
As part of the agreement, StubHub will pay $2,500 to the Consumer Advancement Fund and cover over $6,000 in inspection costs.
Louise Hartland, director of public relations at Consumer Protection BC, stressed the importance of transparency. “People buying tickets in B.C. have the right to clear, accurate information about what they are purchasing and what it will cost before they buy. This agreement is about transparency and ensuring consumers can access refunds when the law requires it.”
Which Tickets Are Eligible
Fans who purchased tickets for Taylor Swift’s Vancouver concerts on December 6, 7, and 8, 2024, specifically in sections 219–236, 336, or 418–437, may qualify for a refund if their tickets didn’t clearly disclose obstructed or limited views. StubHub will contact eligible buyers directly by May 1, 2026.
These affected sections were located beside or behind the stage, where visibility could be restricted.
B.C. Law on Ticket Sales
In British Columbia, ticket sellers—including secondary platforms like StubHub—must provide accurate descriptions and full pricing information before a sale is completed. If a ticket does not meet its advertised specifications, buyers are entitled to a full refund under the Ticket Sales Act.
