Surrey Police Arrest Two Men in Shooting Investigation
Surrey Police Service (SPS) has announced charges against two men following an investigation into a reported shooting at a Surrey residence earlier this year.
The incident took place on April 22, 2026, shortly after midnight in the 13400 block of 87A Avenue. Officers responded after receiving reports of gunfire at a home. Investigators later confirmed that both the residence and a nearby vehicle sustained damage during the shooting.
Police stated that people were inside the home at the time of the incident, but fortunately no injuries were reported.
Extortion Response Team Led Investigation
Following the shooting, Surrey Police Service’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) assumed control of the investigation due to alleged extortion-related threats connected to the victim.
Investigators identified a suspect vehicle and later secured a search warrant for a Surrey property. The operation involved support from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team and the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
During the search operation, officers arrested two suspects who now face several firearm-related charges under the Criminal Code of Canada.
Charges Filed Against Damanjeet Singh and Pardaman Singh
Police identified the accused as:
- Damanjeet Singh, 22
- Pardaman Singh, 30
According to investigators, both men have been charged with:
- Discharging a firearm into a place while knowing or being reckless about whether people were present
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without a valid licence
Authorities confirmed that both accused remain in custody pending future court appearances.
Police Release Photos Seeking Additional Information
In an unusual move, Surrey Police released photographs of both suspects publicly as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials say the decision was made in hopes of encouraging additional witnesses, victims, or individuals with relevant information to come forward. Investigators believe the case may be connected to broader violent extortion activity impacting communities across British Columbia.
Police are continuing efforts to identify possible criminal associates and networks connected to these incidents.
Surrey Extortion Cases Remain Major Concern
Violent extortion threats targeting businesses and residents have become an increasing concern across Surrey and the Lower Mainland in recent years.
Authorities say tackling extortion-related violence remains a priority, and public cooperation is critical to ongoing investigations.
The Surrey Extortion Reward Fund, established in 2025, continues offering financial rewards for information leading to charges and convictions in extortion-related crimes.
