Influencer Arrested and Charged in Human Trafficking Probe
Police in British Columbia have charged a Vancouver-based social media influencer after a lengthy investigation into alleged human trafficking activities spanning British Columbia and Ontario. The BC Counter Human Trafficking Unit says the probe, launched in May 2025, culminated in charges approved this month against a 31-year-old man identified as Tevin Douglas.
Douglas, who also has a presence as a musician on social platforms, faces six counts including trafficking in persons, procuring a person to provide sexual services, advertising sexual services, material benefit from trafficking and from sexual services, as well as sexual assault.
Alleged Offences Spanned Multiple Provinces
Authorities allege the offences took place between July 1 and Dec. 1, 2023, and that the victim was moved through the Lower Mainland of British Columbia and into the Greater Toronto Area in Ontario during that period. The cross-province nature of the allegations underscores the complexity of the case and the involvement of multiple law-enforcement agencies in the investigation.
RCMP officers arrested Douglas at his Vancouver residence, executing a search warrant at the property as part of the operation. After appearing before a judge, he was released on conditions while the legal process continues.
Police Urge Community Support
Investigators from the BC Counter Human Trafficking Unit have noted that human trafficking is rarely isolated to one victim or province, and they are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward. These appeals often accompany major criminal investigations to support ongoing efforts to identify other possible victims or co-conspirators and strengthen public safety.
The case is now before the courts, and further details are expected to emerge as the legal process unfolds.
