In front of fans at Vancouver’s BC Place, the Whitecaps opened their 2026 Major League Soccer campaign with a victory over Real Salt Lake. The team’s season opener ended in a 1-0 win, setting a positive tone for the home side early in the year.
The only goal came midway through the second half. Midfielder Aziel Jackson, in his Whitecaps debut, volleyed a strike past the Real Salt Lake goalkeeper in the 57th minute, securing all three points for Vancouver.
Defensively, Vancouver held strong throughout the match. The Whitecaps maintained pressure, outshooting their visitors and earning a clean sheet with contribution from goalkeeper Yohei Takaoka.
This exciting start continues Vancouver’s push to build on their success from last season after reaching the MLS Cup final.
