Surrey Set for Festive VSO Concerts This Weekend
Surrey audiences have a chance to enjoy not just one but two seasonal concerts from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO) this Saturday, December 13. The annual holiday performances will be hosted at Bell Performing Arts Centre, bringing Christmas music and community spirit to the city.
Limited tickets remain for the concerts, which open with a performance at 4 p.m. followed by a second show at 7:30 p.m. Both events take place at the 1,062-seat theatre located at Sullivan Heights Secondary School.
What to Expect Carols, Classics and Festive Favourites
The VSO’s Traditional Christmas program features beloved carols and holiday classics. Music selections include well-known pieces such as Sleigh Ride, O Holy Night, White Christmas and Silent Night. In addition to these familiar favourites the program also includes music from Frozen and other seasonal pieces designed to appeal to all ages.
Guest soloist Bridget Esler will perform alongside the orchestra, with acclaimed host and storyteller Christopher Gaze guiding the audience through the musical journey. Maestro Trevor Wilson will conduct the performances.
The concerts run about 60 minutes without intermission and are part of the VSO’s broader holiday tour, which includes stops in South Delta, West Vancouver, North Vancouver and Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre later in December.
A New Concert Series Debuts in Surrey
This season also marks the launch of Surrey Sundays, a new concert series presented by the VSO at Bell Performing Arts Centre. The series features a variety of performances spanning classical masterpieces and popular themes, such as works by Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninoff in January, Ravel’s Bolero in March and a celebration of James Bond music in May.
Tickets and Attendance Tips
Tickets are available through the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s official website at vancouversymphony.ca and may still be found for both showtimes in Surrey. Given the festive timing and popularity of the event, remaining seats are expected to move quickly.
Whether you plan to attend with family, friends or on your own this weekend’s VSO concerts offer a chance to embrace holiday music and community gathering in a memorable setting right here in Surrey.
