Ellie King Returns to Stage in Triple Act

Surrey’s Ellie King, founder and former artistic director of the Royal Canadian Theatre Company, is stepping into not one — but three characters for her latest production, Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors.

The gender-bending, fast-paced comedy will run Oct. 23 to Nov. 1 at Jericho Arts Centre in Vancouver, presented by DSR Productions.

“I play three men,” King shared. “It’s a super silly piece — much fun. And what a team! Amazing talent in all areas, both on stage and in production.”

Written by Gordon Greenberg and Steve Rosen, the play is described as a “lightning-fast, laugh-out-loud re-imagining” of Bram Stoker’s iconic vampire story — this time featuring a Gen Z pansexual Count Dracula facing an existential crisis.

The story follows a timid English real estate agent who travels to Transylvania to meet a mysterious new client — and chaos (and comedy) ensue.

“Filled with clever wordplay and anything-goes pop culture references,” the show promises a 90-minute thrill “perfect for audiences of all blood types.”

Behind the Fangs — The Team and the Tone

Directed by Mark Carter, the cast includes Maia Beresford, Joshua Berg, Jackie Charrois, Michael Charrois, and Quinn Churchill alongside King.

Tickets range from $23 to $35 and are available online at dsrproductions.ticketspice.com/dracula-a-comedy-of-terrors.

Audiences should note that the performance contains mature themes, including simulated intimacy, coarse language, and heavy strobe and smoke effects.
