SURREY / NEW WESTMINSTER, B.C. Commuters should plan ahead this week the Pattullo Bridge will be closed southbound into Surrey overnight on Nov. 27, 28 and 30, according to a notice from TransLink issued Wednesday.

The closures from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.  are part of the ongoing Pattullo Bridge Replacement Project. Workers will be installing an overhead directional sign above the right-hand lane on the new bridge, near the Scott Road exit ramp along King George Boulevard. Pedestrian and cyclist access will also be suspended during these hours.

What Drivers & Commuters Need to Know

  • Alternate routes: Southbound drivers are advised to use the Port Mann Bridge or Alex Fraser Bridge instead.
  • Transit reroutes: The night-bus route N19 will be diverted via the Alex Fraser and Queensborough bridges between New Westminster and Scott Road stations.
  • Northbound traffic unaffected: Travel into New Westminster will proceed normally.

Why the Closures Are Happening

The sign installation requires heavy equipment including a drill rig that will occupy the southbound lanes. For safety reasons, both vehicle lanes, pedestrian walkways and cycling paths must be closed during the work window.

Officials say this is among the final steps before the replacement bridge opens, which remains on track for Christmas 2025.
