Tragic Collision at Surrey Gas Station on Christmas Morning

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in Surrey, B.C., this Christmas morning when a woman was struck by a police vehicle at a Chevron gas station. The collision occurred around 6 a.m. as a Surrey Police Service officer was exiting the station.

The Independent Investigations Office (IIO), which reviews all police-involved incidents resulting in death or serious injury, has confirmed it is in the early stages of examining the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Emergency Response and Critical Condition

B.C. Emergency Health Services responded swiftly, dispatching two ambulances to the scene. Paramedics provided immediate care and transported the woman to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, authorities later confirmed she had passed away.

In a brief statement, Surrey Police expressed their sorrow: “The woman has tragically passed away. SPS is unable to provide additional information while the IIO’s independent process is taking place.”

At this time, no further details about the victim have been released, apart from the fact that she was an adult. The IIO has urged anyone who witnessed the accident to come forward.
