IHIT Assumes Lead in Surrey Homicide Investigation

Surrey’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has stepped in to lead the investigation following an early morning shooting in the 12500 block of 91 Avenue.

Early Morning Tragedy

Around 4:55 a.m. on January 24, 2026, Surrey Police Service (SPS) officers responded to emergency calls reporting gunfire at a local residence. When officers arrived, they discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders, including SPS, Surrey Fire Services, and BCEHS, provided immediate assistance. Tragically, one of the men was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Investigative Efforts Underway

IHIT has officially taken over the case and is coordinating closely with SPS to prioritize investigative tasks. Authorities are actively gathering evidence and following leads to uncover the circumstances surrounding this violent incident.
