South Surrey’s Rotary gala drew 100+ guests, celebrated culture, and raised $2,000 to power youth-led environmental projects.
South Surrey Hosts a Night of Purpose and Pride
South Surrey lit up on Saturday, Jan. 24, because the Rotary Club of Nature Celebrators brought people together for a joyful cause. The Multicultural Fundraising Gala filled the Semiahmoo Fish and Game Club with music, color, and shared purpose. From the start, the evening felt warm, hopeful, and community-driven.
A Crowd That Showed Up and Spoke Loudly
More than 100 guests arrived, and they stayed engaged throughout the night. Because families, cultural groups, and local leaders all joined in, the room buzzed with energy. Moreover, the strong turnout showed clear support for multiculturalism and environmental action. As a result, the message landed: community matters.
Culture Took Center Stage
The program flowed with flair and heart. First, vibrant Asian traditional dances set the tone. Then, a lively Indian fashion show followed, so color and movement filled the room. Meanwhile, music and cultural showcases kept spirits high. Additionally, each performance celebrated heritage while building bridges. Overall, the stage told a shared story of pride and respect.
Leaders Applaud Community Spirit
Rotary Club of Nature Celebrators president Sophie Jin shared the heart behind the event. “This night celebrates connection,” she said. “When we invest in youth, we build a stronger future.” Therefore, gratitude flowed to partners and supporters who made the evening shine.
Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke also attended. She praised the club’s focus on inclusion, youth, and the environment. Furthermore, she encouraged continued teamwork to grow a greener, more welcoming city. Consequently, her words reinforced the night’s purpose.
Funds Raised for the Next Generation
Thanks to generous guests and partners, the gala raised more than $2,000. That support will fuel youth environmental awareness projects. So, young people will learn, lead, and protect nature. Finally, the night ended with smiles, because impact felt real and immediate.
A Celebration That Looked Forward
In the end, the Rotary gala did more than entertain. It connected cultures, inspired action, and strengthened community ties. Likewise, it proved that when people come together, positive change follows—naturally, joyfully, and together.
