New tech grants open as agri-tech becomes key to farm productivity and competitiveness
British Columbia producers now have another opportunity to modernize their operations with support from a provincial-federal technology funding program.
The B.C. On-Farm Technology Adoption Program recently opened its latest intake, offering eligible farmers access to grants to help purchase and implement new technologies designed to make planting, harvesting and other processes more efficient and less labour-intensive.
With $2.5 million in funding available through this round, producers can apply for assistance to buy equipment such as autonomous field machinery, robotic harvesters, precision planting systems and other technology solutions tailored to the needs of their operations.
Farmers and industry leaders say these tools can play a key role in addressing labour shortages and boosting productivity in an increasingly competitive marketplace, while also supporting growth in local food systems.
The intake period runs until April 6, 2026, and the program is part of a broader effort by the provincial and federal governments to help British Columbia’s agriculture sector embrace innovation.
Producers interested in applying can learn more through provincial agriculture resources and funding portals.
