Police Release Suspect Images in Burnaby Park Assault

Burnaby RCMP are appealing to the public for help identifying a man wanted in connection with a sexual assault that occurred in a local park last month. Authorities have released both photos and video footage of the person of interest.

Assault Reported in Lobley Park

The incident reportedly happened on February 6, shortly after 7:45 p.m., at Lobley Park, near the southwest corner by Grimmer Street and Dunblane Avenue. According to police, a woman in her 30s was walking through the park when an unknown man grabbed her from behind.

He allegedly covered her mouth with one hand while touching her groin and buttocks with the other. The woman fought back, prompting the suspect to flee through the park in the direction of Marlborough Avenue. Despite efforts, a police dog was unable to track him.

Public Help Needed to Identify Suspect

Corporal Laura Hirst, a spokesperson for Burnaby RCMP, urged residents to examine the released images closely. “If you recognize this individual or know who he is, please contact our investigators immediately,” she said.

Suspect Description

Police describe the man as between 5’8″ and 5’11″ tall, with a medium build, and aged approximately 30 to 40 years old.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. Authorities stress that even small tips could help bring the suspect to justice.
