Surrey Police Respond to Overnight Shooting
A Surrey neighbourhood is once again under investigation after gunfire struck a home near 94 Avenue and 127 Street.
According to investigators, the shooting happened during the early morning hours, but police were not contacted until later in the day after evidence of gunfire was discovered at the residence.
Officers confirmed that people were inside the home at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Same Property Previously Targeted
Police say the residence had already been involved in a previous shooting investigation earlier this year.
In the earlier case, a suspect was arrested and charged following an investigation by Surrey Police Service. The repeated targeting of the same property has raised concerns among local residents about escalating violence connected to extortion-related activity.
Authorities believe the latest shooting may also be linked to extortion threats that have affected several communities across British Columbia in recent months.
Extortion Response Team Leading Investigation
Surrey Police Service’s Extortion Response Team (ExRT) has now taken over the investigation as officers continue gathering evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from the area.
Police are asking residents, drivers, and businesses nearby to check dashcams and CCTV footage for suspicious activity that may help investigators identify suspects or vehicles connected to the shooting.
Investigators say the case remains in its early stages.
Community Concerns Continue Growing
The latest incident has renewed concerns around public safety and organized criminal activity in Surrey neighbourhoods.
Residents in the area say repeated incidents involving gunfire are leaving families worried about safety, especially when shootings occur while homes are occupied.
Law enforcement agencies across the Lower Mainland have been dealing with a rise in extortion-related violence, including threats, arson incidents, and targeted shootings.
Why This Story Matters
The Surrey shooting investigation highlights growing concerns around extortion-related crime in British Columbia communities. As police continue cracking down on organized criminal activity, many residents are calling for stronger safety measures and quicker action to prevent further violence.
